Wow what a busy Summer!! So sorry I haven’t got around to the next Newsletter until now.
So what’s been happening? Well Mum and I enjoyed a fabulous holiday in Lincolnshire, visiting lots of craft shops, walking by Rutland Water, a visit to Stamford (lovely old town) and Burleigh House Gardens, their Sculpture Garden is amazing, well worth a visit. Spent quite a lot of the time preparing for our various Crochet Classes and Clubs for September. Thoroughly enjoyed myself having it spread out all around me as did mum.
Just recently we’ve had our 1940’s Weekend in Sheringham. My sister Megan came up to help in the shop for the day. We dressed up for the occasion, both wearing spotty dresses (the dotty sisters!!) Good description for us.
Anne came and sat with her Tatting which many people found very interesting and raised lots of money for the Sheringham Museum!
My new Autumn and Winter Season yarns are starting to arrive at Owl Tree Crafts:-
Drifter, which is a double knit yarn with some gorgeous Autumn colours, already proving very popular. It has a very soft handle and is fantastic to knit with.
Urban, which mainly knits on a 5mm needle, roughly an aran weight but with a chunky feel to it. It has great textures, boucle, metallic chain, and fluffy section with some great patterns for home accessories, garments and hats and scarves etc. We were nearly completely wiped out of this yarn at the weekend!! Fortunately more supplies are on their way!
Superchunky Tints have arrived this week. I think this will prove very popular especially if we get the cold winter they are predicting!! Great for cosy chunky jackets and warm blankets to snuggle up under.
I have also ordered from Kingcole one of their new Italian Collection yarns called ‘Verona’. They are not quite sure when it will be available for distribution to the retailers but it is a beautiful yarn and I shall eagerly await it.
Great new patterns have arrived for Bamboozle, Galaxy and the new yarns with some patterns for this season’s must, PONCHOS!!!!!
Just one last thing to say about Yarn, I am really excited to let you know I am now going to be stocking Adriafil’s Knitcol, this is like Stella Jacq but a DK version, it is a pure wool which knits as a fairisle, with some beautiful shades and designer patterns all at a very reasonable price.
Now after all that talk about yarns lets move on to Fabric. I am so excited this month because the fabrics which I ordered in June from Moda will now start arriving!! I can’t wait to get them into ‘Owl Tree Crafts’. I have been busy trying to shabby chic a couple of old crates which I bought on holiday to keep the fat quarters in (not too sure how good a job I have done, but I tried!) There are many different stages to the process but the painting is now done so all I have to do now is rub them down and finish with wax.
This week I have seen a rep with a view to stocking, cutting mats, rotary cutters, templates etc. necessary for the art of Patchwork and Quilting. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see stocked at Owl Tree Crafts. They also stock Riley Blake Fabrics so I might be tempted with a few of those!!
Also in the shop now the fantastic Promarker Pens, colouring books for adults and coming soon the Derwent Colouring Pencils. All great for (sorry I am going to mention that word) Christmas presents.
We are now taking in Repairs and Alterations, so please spread the word! Pat is a fantastic seamstress.
Our various clubs, classes and groups have now re-commenced and it is really great to have you all back @ Owl Tree Crafts. Our new Stitch and Bead Club on a Tuesday night has been great fun. So far we have made a beaded bracelet and a lovely hexagonal patchwork pincushion. Next time we are beading a necklace, do join us if you would like to. You don’t have to do the project of the evening you can just bring along your own stitching or beading project!
During Half Term week at the end of October I am having a ‘Monster Sale’ with ‘Spooktacular Prices’ (sorry very cheesy I know) so come along and grab a bargain.
Mum has lovingly sewn up the Blanket for Aid Africa which is now safely in their hands.
Ok, I think I had better stop now, hope this longer edition makes up for the lack of one last month.
Hope to see you soon @ Owl Tree Crafts.
